    'Cannon to right of them,
    Cannon to left of them,
    Cannon in front of them'
    this is rhyme and alliteration, this tells the reader that they are surrounded by the enemy and cannot escape the bombardment.

    ''mouth of hell'' the word ''hell'' shows going into battle is a hard and scary experience.
    ''shattered'' this quotation shows that everything is broken and lost.

    this is pesonification, this tells us that the soilders have entered the battle field.

    This tells the reader that they are surrounded by enemies and danger all the time. This is rhyme and alliteration. The rhyme makes it more effective and catchy.

    Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
    Sabring the gunners there'
    this is rhyme and has a simile in it, this shows that the rhythem maybe of the horses hooves as they canter through the battle field.
