  1. The poem a “life is a life” present there feelings by saying “ then all the weeping of Palestine” shows that the author ( Marguerite Rami) that she feels unhappy about the war. This shows her feelings are like sorrowful and disappointed the point that proves it is “weeping” this is proves that she is upset about the war. One the other hand .The poem “the solider” presents the authors feelings by “a body of England, breathing English air” which is relieved that the war has ended also this shows his feelings are that he wasn’t to disappointed about the war being such a disaster.

  2. In "the soldier", Rupert Brooke shows that it is a good and brave thing to die for your country and family.
    "And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,in hearts at peace, underan English heaven."
    This demonstrates that Rupert Brooke believes thata soldier who would sacrifice themself to save either someone or lots of people is a brave soul and would rest in peace. On the other hsnd, in "a life is a life" Marguerite Remi wrote a much more negative parthe s of the war.
    "are yours worth so much more then all all the weeping of palestine, who cannot fight an equal war"
    this demonstrates that Marguerits Rami is very angry about the war andwants to show her anger in the poem.

  3. In “The Soldier”, Brooke shows that dying in a war is brave and noble:
    “Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
    And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,”
    This shows that Brooke believes that fighting in war will protect our “happy” country and will preserve also preserve it. The word “dream” suggests that England is perfect and is a paradise. The soldier in the poem is ready to lose his life to protect our paradise. However in “A life is a life”, Rami demonstrates that war is dangerous and causes sadness:
    “This is your new holocaust, although you call it something else”
    This shows that the war is horrible but the enemy is trying to hide it. The word “holocaust” suggests that the war is a massacre and is not right. This is different to Brooke’s “dream” because the holocaust was more like a nightmare.

  7. In “A life is a life”, Marguerite Rami stresses the point that war is a bad thing and the killing is meaningless and shouldn’t happen, the opposite vew is taken in “The Soldier”. She also compares the war in Gaza to the holocaust whereas the idea of war in the other poem is glorified and seen as heroic. The author shows this in the line “so this is your new holocaust, although you call it something else” the word “new” implies that they’ve made a new holocaust and that they’re just as bad the Nazis. In “The Soldier” the character says how where he dies will always be England “That is forever England. There shall be”, “forever” shows how the character believes that where they die will always be England. This shows that the poet has a very realistic view of war and thinks it is pointless whereas Rupert Brooke believes war to be heroic and patriotic. “A life is a life” could discourage people from joining the army because of the horrors of war with the opposite being said for “The soldier” which promises riches and rewards.

  8. How do the poet of “life of a life” and “The soldier” present there feelings

    In “the soldier” Brookes his feeling by giving a positive view on the war. Because he believes it is a good and noble way to die. “If I should die only think this of me: there’s some corner of a foreign field that is forever England”. This shows that the poet likes and wants to die in war. As the word “foreign” implies that even if he dies in a foreign country it will still feel like it is England to him and he still to wants to go back England. For he was a good soldier

  9. In the Soldier you can tell that the poet showed certain sadness but pride towards England; as in this quotation “If I should die, think this of me: that there’s some corner of a foreign field that is forever England”
    This clearly shows us that Brooke has an understanding for England’s reason of fighting, and that it is his hope for fighting against the enemy, so he can see his home-land once again.
    This sentence of “foreign field that is forever England” This shows us that he is in a foreign land from England and that England will always be England.

  10. How to the poets of “The soldier” and “A is a life” present their feeling about the casualties of wartime?”

    In “The soldier”, Brooke demonstrates that he thinks that it is a brave, Noble and patriotic to die for your country;
    “If I should did, Think only this of me:
    That there’s some corner of foreign field that is forever England, There shall be.”
    This extract clearly shows that Brooke believes that if a soldier died fighting for his country, it was worth while to protect England and its history. The words “Forever England” implies that England will never be defeated or destroyed. Also the alliteration “foreign field” Gives the poem a more lyrical view which further emphasises the how much the sacrifice the soldiers made for there country in another country even more meaningful. This good view on war could be taken as evidence that Brooke was trying to lift sprits and moral of the people in the war that so many poor men were being killed and fighting for England and giving the family’s strength that there sons, husbands ect, Had not died in vain.
    On the other hand In “A life is a life” Rami writes about a much more bleak and horrible look on war casualties:
    “So this is holocaust” This demonstrates that this war is a horrible and bloody war and many innocent are dieing in it. The word “Holocaust” shows how Rami know that many many innocent civilians are dieing like in the original Holocaust. The contrast between the word “Forever” and the word “holocaust” It shows that Rami hate War but brooke think it is necessary.

    In “The Soldier” Brooke thinks war is a good thing and it is good to die for England. “If I should die, think only this of me: That there’s some corner of a foreign field that is forever England.” this shows that the poet likes and wants to protect England. The word “foreign” implies that even though he is fighting in foreign country he still wants to go back to England.
    On the other hand in “a life is a life” Rami think war is a bad thing. “We see for fourteen you kill nine hundred, are yours worth so

  13. How do the poets of “The Soldier” and “A life is a life” present there feelings?

    In the poem “A life is a life”, Marguerite Rami presents her feelings by using a war she’s lived through in Gaza to express how she feels about ongoing conflicts.
    “We see fourteen you kill nine hundred, are yours worth so much more.”
    In this quotation she expresses her feelings towards those nine hundred who died in the Gaza war in 2009.
    She uses the word “worth” shows that she has deep emotion towards worth and equality in all people, she uses those emotions towards worth and equality in her poem to express her feelings towards war because a lot of people died in the war and most of those people in the soldiers eyes as not being as much worth.
    Also “so this is your new holocaust”.
    This quotation shows that a so many people died that she refers to the holocaust to show how much the war in Gaza was like world war 1 in one way.

    In the poem “the soldier” Rupert Brooke presents his feelings by saying what it’s like being a soldier in a war.
    “If I die, think only this of me:”.
    In this quotation Brooke shows his feelings by saying if idie says that he was a very experienced soldier to be writing a poem showing a first hand experience on war.

  14. In the poem a life is a life the poet Marguerite Rami presents her feelings by making it obvious that she believes war is a horrid think to and if you do kill in war you will be evil for the rest of your life.
    “Pity the nation who thinks its self right;
    Pity its people who forget how they died.
    This implies that she has a bleak out look on the war. She is obviously angry. The word “Pity” shows she is feeling sorry for everyone involved not just the people killed she also is upset about all those people who fought and killed or injured innocent people and came back as heroes. This suggests that she feels they won’t live a full life this could be because of her religion or just because she is an understanding person. The words “War” and “More” suggest that it is never ending and it will continue for a long time and there is nothing she can do about it. Of course not everyone has the same opinion as Rami there are of course other poets with different views. For example Rupert Brook who wrote The Soldier that clearly expressed a more positive opinion.
    “And in laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
    In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.”
    This shows Brooke is a loyal and brave Englishman who believes if he is fighting for his country wherever he dies it will be England forever . He doesn’t care what happens to him or how many innocent people get killed he is fighting for his country and that will get him to heaven. The word “Peace” could mean he feels he needs to fight for his country to be at peace. That could suggest he is religious or very loyal to his country. The alliteration “laughter, learnt” gives the poem a rhythm making England sound even more amazing. Rami’s “pity” is a completely different to Brooke’s “peace” showing two completely different views on the war.

    How do the poets of “the soldier” and “a life is a life” present their feelings?”

    Marguerite Rami expresses her feelings by putting her feelings in the poem like “You split Gaza into three, herding the old and week like cattle” this shows that Rami feels that the old and weak are herded like cattle and the country has split into three. The word cattle shows that they are being herded away from their own country.

    Rupert Brooke expresses his feelings by putting his feelings in the poem like “a body of England’s, breathing English air”. This shows that England is more like a person and should be cared for. The word breathing shows it is a person.

  16. How do the poets of “a life for a life” and “the soldier” present their feelings.

    In “the soldier”, Brook shows his feelings in the poems by repeating his country England this shows that he is pound to be fighting for England.
    “That is forever England.”
    This shows that brook even if he dies in another county he will be glad to fight for his country. The word “forever” shows that Brook will always believe in his country and fighting for it even if he dies England will live forever. Also this poem has rhyme the word “be” and “me” rhyme this helps the poem to have a rhythm. “under a English heaven” this shows that he believes that England is like a heaven it’s a light and bright place.
    On the other hand “in a life is a life” rami shows his feelings by making the poem negative.
    “who can not fight an equal war”
    This shows that he is mad that these people are trained soldiers and the people being attacked are just simple people trying to live in a world of Pease. The word “can not” means that they are not trying hard to make it equal. There is also rhyme in life is a life “war” and “more” witch make the poem sound the same as “the soldier”.
